  • Why This Blog?

This blog was created to provide another source of military, social and related political information for those who are interested. Some of these items are my own thoughts; many will be items created by others that are aggregated here. Hopefully you'll find them of benefit or at least interesting. Feel free to share this blog with others.
  • What You’ll Find Here

You'll find items that I'm interested in; it's that simple. My interests include personal computing technology, military news, (some) political news, Medicare and Social Security, healthcare and who knows.

Tech Stuff

Not only is Facebook changing, but so is Google. Not so much an issue if all you use Google for is as a search engine but if you use other Google services (Google+, Google Wallet, Gmail, etc.) you might want to read this article (Google’s Privacy Options) and make the appropriate changes.

If you have a LinkedIn account you might want to check the settings on that website. Did you know the defaults are to share with others, not just your LinkedIn contacts? This includes 3rd party advertisers and they apparently can use your name and photo in their ads unless you turn off that permission. Here’s a link on that topic (Linked In Privacy Options) but you might want to check all the settings in all the categories.

The bottom line to all of this is that “Internet Privacy” is an oxymoron!

Opinion Piece – Not Mine

I found this article regarding the Army’s Medical Evacuation policies in Afghanistan (and elsewhere) that might be of interest.  It’s very long and controversial.
